It’s not okay to hit a kid
Why do you do it?
Just ’cause your parents did?
About the poem:
This week I’m teaching the John Denver song, “Sunshine on my Shoulders”. Before we listen to the song, the kids write what makes them happy, can make them cry, looks so lovely, and almost always makes them high.
Two girls and one boy chose “Mom hitting me” for what can make them cry.
This puts me in an awkward situation. But I tell them clearly, I think it’s not okay to hit a kid. What can we teach our kids by hitting them? Nothing good.
